Don’t Go In The Basement

Here’s a good rule of thumb. If someone tells you to not go in the basement, don’t go in the basement.

I had the pleasure just now of driving a guy from our local airport to his hotel, and we got to talking about ghosts. He told me of his grandparent’s old house, where he saw an old woman standing in one of the upstairs windows a handful of times.

He said his grandmother was always walking around outside the house praying. He never asked why, but it could’ve been because of the house she lived in.

He told me back in the early 1900s there was cult activity in the area,  specifically where that house was. For a short period, some cult types lived in the house and somehow got a hold of his grandfather’s sister. They kept her captive, tortured her, and used her for cult reasons. Eventually she died because of it. She was in her 30s when it happened, and his grandfather doesn’t talk about her much.

The grandparents moved back into the house and had to deal with the activity that went on there. And the basement was a place they didn’t bother going.

I thought it might be more of a dirt floor cellar, and that’s what he said it was. One of his brothers decided one time to go down there with some others. They all claimed they saw a small black mass hanging from the bottom of the steps, and it had dull red eyes. It was instantly on his brother’s back. When they all ran from the basement, the brother had claw marks and scratches all over his back. They never went back down there.

So remember kids, when someone gives you a warning like that, listen!

He told me he could spend the night alone in the woods with no problem, but he always got chills going by that house, even now, and it’s no longer standing.

Personally, I’m glad I’ve never had anything like that happen to me, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little jealous. Great story!

Sir NoFace And Indisputable Evidence

I’ve talked about this before to a degree but must again. As a believer in the paranormal who always looks at things skeptically, and one who has spoken to many skeptics, there is, in my opinion, nothing that can change the minds of the hardest skeptics. No proof could ever convert everyone. I once spoke to a guy who had an answer for everything. If you saw a ghost, or some sort of paranormal event, it just meant that you were hallucinating from some cause, whether it be your tap water, or medicine you’re on, or the air you breathe. He really felt that way.

Over the years there have been many excellent pictures and videos taken, as well as sound bites and everything in between, that were as close as you could get to being indisputable evidence. Take the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall as example.

That picture was taken in 1936 and printed in both Country Life magazine (which it was taken for) and Life magazine. It wasn’t supposed to be a ghost picture taking event, the camera guys were in Raynham Hall just taking pictures for Country Life when they got this. After being interviewed and the film studied, it was revealed that there was no reason to not believe the two who captured the picture, and the film was not tampered with, meaning the picture is legit.

Gaming Ghosts

Apparently there’s a few videos online of gamers recording themselves playing, as they do, and paranormal stuff happening behind them, which of course gets caught on tape. I just now discovered this, but it may already be old news to you.

I just saw this video and thought I’d share it. It definitely has a creep factor to it, the kid’s reactions seem legit, and the scares are fun (except to him). But someone pointed out to me his cat is just chilling on the couch, which it is, and typically animals, especially cats, don’t seem to do well around paranormal events.

I’m not sure what to make of this, considering the cat, but I’m leaning more towards real than fake. What says you?

There’s a video where he goes back to the apartment and more stuff happens here.

Fireworks At The Lake

I’ve posted a few times about things happening at the lake where my dad lives. Surprisingly I haven’t made a Lake category. I’ll get to fixing that as soon as I’m done with this.

I spoke to him just the other day, after he told me about the stuff going on at Reily’s Pizza. He said some more things are going on where he lives.

A quick recap. The only people who lived at that lake for decades was the owner and his wife. My dad has been going there his entire life, so he’s known the owners at least that long. There were some campers there, and the owners let a few people who were close to them live there in the campers, my dad being one. A few years ago the owner’s wife passed away, and the owner, Arlie, decided to close the lake to customers. Since he was getting older and in failing health, my dad started taking care of him, because that’s the kind of guy my dad is.

Recently, Arlie had to move into a nursing home, and probably won’t get out of it this time. So, my dad is living at the lake now by himself, in Arlie’s place. With all that has gone on there over the years, paranormally speaking, it’s no surprise that things are continuing to happen, especially now that my dad is alone.

He said the other day he heard a loud pop. Said it sounded like those little firecracker things you throw at stuff and they pop when they hit something. He looked all over, outside too, and found nothing. An hour later, it happened again. This time he looked over at the front door, where he heard the sound come from, and said he saw a tiny puff of smoke near the door.

That’s when the TV started acting up. He said it shut itself off, and when he went to get the remote, it turned back on. And then it proceeded to turn itself off and on several more times.

My dad is used to the paranormal, as he’s dealt with it most of his life. It seems ghosts and the like are attracted to him. Still, it creeps him out sometimes, especially when he’s alone.

Reily’s Pizza

Reily is a small town located between Cincinnati and Oxford. For those of you who know of Reily, it’s probably because you either live/d there, saw a kickass concert there (Ted Nugent shut the town down), or because you’ve been to Reily’s Pizza.

It’s pretty much the only business in town. Maybe another bar. Handful of houses. That’s it.

If they get 30 customers in a day, that means the entire town of Reily ate, twice.

If they get 30 customers in a day, that means the entire town of Reily ate, twice.

Reily’s Pizza has some delicious food and tasty beer. They’ve been around for a long time, and for almost just as long, they’ve also been known to be haunted.

I forgot all about them being haunted until I talked to my dad the other day, and he told me about something that happened to him while in there.

I’ve been to the place twice, once years ago and once this past summer with my dad. My dad goes all the time, and has for years. He told me about a recent incident and mentioned how he had forgotten it was haunted until that happened, then he remembered something that had happened to him back in 1988 or so.

Which do you want me to tell you first? That one? Okay.

He had stopped in with two of his buddies. They sat down at a table and got a pitcher of beer. Three big guys sat at a table over from them, and they had some pitchers, too. With everybody drinking, and everybody in a mood to fight, the group of guys started talking crap to my dad’s two buddies, because they were big guys.

His two buddies started talking crap back to them and said they wanted to fight. My dad tried talking them out of it when out of nowhere their pitcher of beer flew off of their table and landed on the other guy’s table, splashing beer all over them. They got pissed off and were ready to fight while my dad was dragging his buddies out of the bar. As he was, he kept an eye on the other guys, and suddenly their pitcher of beer flew off of their table and hit my dad and his buddies, soaking them.

The TMS House

A long-time friend of mine, whom I’ll call TMS, recently told me about the house where she and her husband live and how they’ve had some ghostly activity there. Back when we were in high school, when I first met her, I knew the house she lived in then was haunted (and still is, her mother still lives there), and I might get to some stories of that house as well, one day.

The conversation started when I told her about my alcohol wipe disappearing. She told me how her husband was sitting on their couch one day messing with his cell phone. When he got up he went to grab the phone and it was gone. She said they searched all over the living room, literally took the couch apart, but turned up nothing. He went without his phone until a week later when TMS noticed the phone on top of the refrigerator. It was still on and had a 46% charge left.

She told me that they hear what sounds like females having a conversation, all the time. They don’t have any neighbors that would cause that, so this one is still a mystery.

The back door doesn’t like to stay closed either. I know how that is.

More Missing Things

Of all the things that have disappeared here over the years, none of the things have gone right out from under my nose. Until the other day.

Back in October I found out I am diabetic. No big deal, I’ve since gotten it under control and I feel a million times better. Anyway, because of that, I now have to take my blood sugar levels regularly.

Just the other day I was in the kitchen preparing to test my blood. I went to the counter, opened my tester bag thing and began getting everything ready. I pulled out the last two alcohol pads I had in the case, and because they were attached, I tore them apart at the perforated line in between them, and set them down on the counter.

I then got my sticker ready and my test strip ready. I reached down and grabbed one of the two alcohol wipes that were still sitting there where I put them. I opened it, wiped my finger, did the thing, and wrote down in my chart what my level was.

I then began taking everything apart, and when I went to throw away the used alcohol wipe I noticed the other one was no longer on the counter.

When I say I searched everywhere, believe I searched EVERYWHERE. I still haven’t found it, and probably never will. Then again, I do have other alcohol wipes, and they all look alike, so maybe I have found it already.

That was the only thing that has happened here recently, but that story leads me to my next one that I’m going to post next!
